____________
Emergency Candlelight Vigil
Monday, January 27
5:00 - 6:00 pm
Lafayette Park (across from White House)
Tonight join a candlelight vigil in response to Chief UN Weapons Inspector Hans Blix’s report of findings in Iraq. It is URGENT that we gather tonight to tell Bush that there is no compelling evidence for a  preemptive strike on Iraq and that the inspections process should be allowed to continue. For more information call the CODEPINK offices at 202-393-5016.

Pre-Rally Meeting for Sorry State of the Union
Monday, January 27
9:00 pm
1640 Hobart St., NW, Mt. Pleasant (Columbia Heights Metro Stop, Green Line).
Come meet some of the on-stage entertainment at Martin Thomas's house, SEIU. Contact: 202-332-6558.

"Candlelight Corridor of Peace"
Tuesday, January 28
7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Pennsylvania Avenue NW, between 4th and 6th Sts., both sides (Archives/Navy Memorial Metro, Yellow line)
We will meet between the two art museums. There is a plaza there to gather and we can spread out from there going toward the White House. There are large spaces on both sides of the Avenue between 4th and 6th that could hold many people and the blocks have a direct line of sight to the Capitol. There is no guarantee that the President's motorcade will pass between us that night, but we will be standing on the traditional route the President takes to go and deliver the State of the Union. If he decides to drive another way, that will speak for itself, will it not?  It may be windy that night and so it is advisable to bring electric, battery powered candles or flashlights that can be shined to the heavens above. Dress warmly, and wear a white outer garment with some expression of peace on it. One person has even suggested using glow in the dark paint to write her message, but everyone can be an artist here. Contact: Steve Cleghorn   JSC1949@email.msn.com.

In addition, the US Green Party, the only major party to take a stand against the War in Iraq, will be directly responding to Bush's calls for his "Endless War on Terrorism."
